Smith College Kathleen McCartney Hall is published in Architectural Record and The Architect’s Newspaper

May 19, 2026

Featured in Architectural Record and The Architect’s Newspaper, Kathleen McCartney Hall is a new 15,000-square-foot mass timber building that brings together two mission‑aligned centers—the Lazarus Center for Career Development and the Wurtele Center for Collaborative Leadership—under a shared roof. By intentionally co-locating these centers in a prominent location, the project aims to amplify their collective work, encouraging students to find their own voice and articulate their leadership strengths as part of their career preparation.

“Our design cues students to step into the building and explore the Lazarus and Wurtele Centers at their own pace. In this welcoming space, they are encouraged to discover their voice and chart a path that is uniquely their own.”

-Arthi Krishnamoorthy, Senior Principal
